Together we can acheive more
Dan Patterson is a visionary entrepreneur, investor, and industry leader with a distinguished track record of founding, acquiring, building, and successfully exiting companies across diverse sectors. With deep expertise in Leveraged Buyouts (LBO) and growth equity transactions, Dan has led several high-impact ventures. Among his notable achievements is the founding of Medical Weight Management, recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest-growing companies in 1988, and the acquisition, expansion, and sale of Texas Home Healthcare, which grew to become the largest home healthcare provider in the Southwest under his leadership.
In 1993, Dan founded Transition Capital Partners (TCP), becoming Dallas’s first fundless private equity sponsor—a pioneering model that has since become a popular path for emerging finance professionals entering the private equity space. Under his leadership, TCP completed over 40 transactions, building a reputation for identifying, scaling, and successfully exiting lower middle-market companies. Dan sold his ownership in TCP in 2020 but continues as a passive investor, with additional interests in late-stage growth equity ventures, credit, and real estate.
Beyond his business pursuits, Dan has a strong pedigree in environmental and conservation efforts. As former Chairman of both the National Tree Trust and the National Arbor Day Foundation, and now Chairman of the Texas Trees Foundation, Dan has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship and community enhancement through green initiatives.
Dan is an art enthusiast and travels to art fairs and museums around the world. His art collection focuses on post-impressionist American and European works, reflecting his deep appreciation for this genre. He also serves on the Board of Gund Gallery at Kenyon College, his alma mater.
Dan earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts from Kenyon College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He has served on the boards of numerous TCP portfolio companies, independent businesses, and non-profit organizations, bringing strategic guidance and leadership to each.
